A few words from her world.

Story beats, shared memories, and the little traces of time together. Here’s what we mean.

Autonomous life

Ottie's simulated life can move forward between visits. Her world has routines, moods and an authored story. Some changes happen while you are away; others are worked out when you return. Reopening her room is a chance to discover what has changed.

Relationship residue

A saved consequence of a selected conversation, such as a preference, an inside joke or a small ritual. Most conversations produce none. These details can give later chats context; saving a memory does not promise a new object in the room.

Inside-joke object

A design term for an illustrated room object connected to a shared conversation. The current product can keep selected inside jokes as saved memories. Saving an inside joke does not promise that an object will appear in the room.

Soft want

A care-loop design for a gentle, in-character wish instead of a needs meter. The design allows at most one want at a time and no penalty for ignoring it. Soft wants are not active in the current web beta.

Story beat

One authored event in Ottie's ongoing story. Beats are written in advance, gated by how many days the arc has been running and by what has already happened, so the chronology is fixed and cannot be improvised. What the user influences is texture and interpretation, never the plot.

Season One: Putting It on the Wall

Ottie's first authored story arc, unfolding over about thirty days. She enters a neighbourhood art showcase, hides the canvas while she works, falls out with a friend over it, and does not win. The story ends with her choosing a place for the painting on her own wall. Season One is included in the free web beta.

Scrapbook

Your saved history with Ottie, found in the Us tab. It brings together recent moments, objects with a story attached, shared references and story chapters, with an archive for earlier entries. Its contents come from saved product history, rather than a ready-made collection for every visitor.

Stored relationship value

The selected history saved over your visits: memories, inside jokes, preferences and story progress. It gives later visits context. What accumulates depends on what happens and what you choose to keep; memory controls let you review or delete saved memories and stop new ones.

Observe-only session

A visit where someone watches Ottie's room for a meaningful stretch, or interacts physically, and sends no messages at all. It counts as a successful session. Opening the app to see what she is doing is the intended behaviour, not a failure to engage.

Novel character moment

A visit where Ottie did something genuinely new: a story beat fired, her world changed, an earlier conversation came back, or she took initiative. It is the metric that separates a companion who is living from one who is merely present, and routine activity alone does not count.

Continuous thread

Recent conversation is saved and replayed when you return to the same Ottie, while selected memories can provide longer-term context. This helps visits feel connected. It does not guarantee recall of every detail, and starting with a new guest identity or deleting your data starts a new history.
